Just beside a Gryffindor in slumber rested a guitar enchanted to play a set of chords from a sheet of paper just below it. The lion looked as though in peace, traces of loss of sleep from the nights before were evident by the bags that sat under his closed eyes. There was various potions and charms homework scattered on the floor. Dmitri had been doing his winter break papers for a few days not because he was behind, no. He merely wanted to finish them as soon as possible so that he didn't need to have to work on them at the last minute. There were questions that he'd answered multiple times so he could re-read the answers he'd written and pick which one was best. Dmitri wanted to be a Professor or an owner of a classy pub. Either of the two was appealing to the young man. The boy dreamt about the said professions and saw himself as both at the same time. Whoever said he couldn't do both? The lion smiled in his sleep until he felt a light poke on the side of his head. It was enough to wake the Gryffindor up but not hard enough to the point that his will woke.

A barrage of something sharp pocked at Dmitri's head only a few moments later. The groggy Gryffindor jolted wide awake, his hand comforting the spot where something had been hitting him. His eyes focused, there it was, the thing that had woken him up from his slumber. Face sleepy with dried ink from the parchment he had been writing on. Morsel. His messenger hawk.

The scary bird eyed at its owner angrily as if it was saying: "You expect me to feckin' wait for ye to wake up ye bum?" the Russian wizard wasn't sure if the hawk had that accent if it had talked, but the bird might as well have. Morsel was a lean looking hawk with a permanent scowl on its face as if it's gone to war before. Its eyes were bright and focused while its body was upright and alert like a military general. If not for its curved beak Dmitri's head would have sported a hole at its incessant pecking. The hawk had a letter in its beak while it continued pecking at the boy's hand.

"Aight... aight Morsel," Dmitri spoke, yawned, and took the letter from his pet's pecker. The hawk immediately took its place on its owner's shoulder, leaning in as if to read what was written on the parchment. The Haag boy already knew who had sent him a letter. His grandfather. How did he know? He'd known that the only time when the bird of prey decided to peck on him incessantly was when he'd deliver his grandfather's letters. It must have been Morsel's instinct to think that all of his Grandfather's letters were urgent.

Dmitri's eyes read the contents word for word before setting the parchment down on the table, he sighed. "Morse, do you think Adalie's a great girl? Dedushka seems to think I should marry her at once. Do you like her?"

The hawk just stared at its owner with its normally unhappy face.

"You, my friend, are a good listener."

Her grandmothers were annoying her, well, all the adults in her family were annoying her. Her grandparents hardly ever agree on anything. With her maternal grandparents messing up the bloodline, mostly to annoy their father's side of the family, since her maternal grandmother tended to be petty. It was a pity really, her sister had a good match too. The Isley's are respected and prestigious in the pureblood community. With her little's sisters new engagement to a half-blood who is the Broussard's heir, due to his own grandmother's pettiness, only has his family fortune to give her. Her older brother, heir to the family, was another screw up as he had no attention to marry a woman and continue the pureblood legacy. Instead, he rather be with a halfblood. It was up to Kai and herself to continue the Connor bloodline.

Though, even though it was her grandmother way to mess with her father. He didn't seem to fight too much about Petra's new betrothal(or even really fight with Marco...to her knowledge) and she found it rather odd since he was known to come down on Petra pretty hard during her first couple of years at Hogwarts for befriending the lesser blood. Though, with him being Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, he wanted to put a more friendly front, or so she took it. It was a smart move for her dad, to get the support he needed, but it cost them certain circles.

She was not her little sister, who dreamed of a knight in shining armor or some nice guy. He didn't have the demeanor of a Durmstange boy nor was he was elegant as the men who come from Beauxbatons. He was a boy from Hogwarts, which meant he was weak and soft. Everything she hated in a man was what D was.

For some reason, her parents and grandparents seem to push this whole engagement thing more. Her letters from them consisted of them pursuing her to stop being difficult since this was her last year in being in school. That she should be softer, like her sister when all they ever complain about her sister softness, and now they were commending her disgusting weakness. No, she was not weak nor was she soft.

Finding him, was never hard. He wasn't the most complicated person in the world, and they were a short list of places he would be at. Her letter in hand; they need to come to some conclusion about how they were getting out this stupid engagement.

"Morse, do you think Adalie's a great girl? Dedushka seems to think I should marry her at once. Do you like her?"

Adalie could hear his annoying voice from the door of classroom eleven. What does being a great girl have to do with an arranged marriage? "I'm from a very prestigious family." She responded as she walked towards him, well his voice. "That alone should make me a great girl." She towered over him, her icy blue eyes on him; "Though, you made it quite clear that hardly matters. So I can only assume that you talking about my personality." Dimitri was already aware of who she was. She didn't try to cover her personality with a fake niceness that seems to be more socially acceptable? "In which case, I'm a great person but not a nice person." She knew she was a mean and, frankly, she didn't care if she was.

Dmitri knew his family had a reputation at Koldovstoretz and that he was from a wealthy family. Everyone knew in their family. Dimitrius, his grandfather, decided that his son and grandson should live however they wanted to and that they should live without the constraints of being of royal blood. The lion's father respected and agreed with his grandfather's wishes and Dmitri, in turn, found the peaceful life easy. There were no house elves in a large mansion, no carriages that protected them, nobody in his school that would nod or bow in respect to a Haag son. Hogwarts was simple. It was different in Russia. The Haags were respected and famous for their potions craft and his Grandfather who was once a high potions master and now an esteemed consult for the Russian ministry, Dmitri knew that one day his dedushka would be pushed into having his pureblood son married into another pureblood family.

Apparently, it was as strict with the purebloods in England as it was in Russia. Old habits die slow.

He also knew that Dimitrius would never have subjected his grandson to an arranged marriage without any good reason, be it his or the other party's.

The hawk beside him ceased its incessant assault and perched on the boy's shoulder. The Gryffindor was happy it had done as his robes were thick enough to stop the bird's claws from burying themselves deep into his skin. He stroked its feathers with his fingers, and it made a deep rumbling sound as if it was pleased with the affection.

He looked at the bird of prey in front of him as if it were to answer but not even a small chirp was heard. He sighed and thought, 'I think she's alright... Even with that sharp and rough exterior. I think she's not a bad person.' He'd seen it before, back in the towers where they watched the stars. She seemed more lonely than angry, her family was dear to her, and with only that he knew that she was never truly as horrible as Slytherins were thought to be. If anything he admired her courage of telling him off about her animosity towards himself. Dmitri found that a good quality in someone, it was honest even if it was brash.

His companion's head turned before he could, and not long after a familiar voice rang out, Adalie. Morsel stared at the newcomer as Dmitri began to speak, "How long have you been there?" He asked, still oblivious to what his face looked like and how his table was a mess of smudged ink on the paper he'd fallen asleep on and the dried ink on his face. It was comical.
