It could normally be said of Adrienne that she always came prepared. For every vacation, every assignment, every trip to toilet, there was almost always a check-list of things she would need to complete her task. So, she was quite surprised when she was sorting through her school supplies and noticed she had made a mistake. Peering down at her list she read clearly GOLDEN scales and yet here before her was a set of silver ones. Of course she bought silver ones, the gold scales in the shop had looked so tacky and she just knew everyone would have a set.

'Well, yes Adrienne, they would all have gold scales wouldn't they? It's on the list' she thought rather sourly as she sat back in the sunny Hufflepuff Common Room, her things sprawled out before her.

"Is something wrong?" one of the younger members of the badger house questioned as he came in with a group of cohorts.

"Um, well, yes, I seem to be in need of something. I suppose I'll have to make a trip to that little town on the lake,"

"Oh, students are only allowed in Hogsmeade on village days... and we've only just had one. Besides, you can get just about everything you need from the Huizingas"

    "The who?"

"The Huizinga kids, they run a shop out of the broom closet on the ground floor,
    they have everything."

Naturally, Adrienne had thought it sounded rather odd that a shop would be run out of a broom closet. How many reputable businesses were run out of broom closets? Then again in a castle full of ghosts, with moving staircases, and something dreadful called blood pudding in the dining hall, Adrienne didn't really feel up to questioning things. So, after packing up her things and grabbing her small ivory handbag, she set off to the ground floor.

It was a beautiful day outside the castle and the high windows along the ground floor corridor let the sun beam down, warming her as she made her way to the broom closet shop. The warm light on her skin filled her with joy and before she knew it she was no longer striding purposefully down the corridor, but she was swaying from side to side with a song on her lips. It was soft, but high ceilings echoed her words back to her.

    "Je voudrais, je voudrais,
a mon tour, comme les oiseaux chanter l'amour,
a celui, que la nuit, je vois dans mes reves si jolis!"

Adrienne hadn't really spoken much french since she arrived, but it felt so natural as she glided along the corridor to her destination. She felt at one with the... castle, I guess, and, as if to validate her oneness she spied a trio of mice skittering along the floor. They seemed to dance to her melody, but of course they were really just scampering away... because they were mice. But, to Adrienne it was dancing.

Of course, none of that lasted long because as she started for the next verse she realized the corridor had ended and before her was the door to what she assumed was the broom closet. She waited for the last echo of her song to die against the stone walls before she stepped forward. After just a moment of hesitation, she knocked...

The room was getting dusty.

It wasn't for Martijn's lack of trying. The desks and shelves received their daily brush of cloth to keep everything in pristine condition, not a single stack of paper was left to gather dust out in the open. Yet still the little dust particles shone like little will-o'-the-wisps every time the door of his broom closet opened and let all of the sunshine in. The sun was, after all, the real culprit here. Warm weather left the castle to bake on its foundations, every stone suddenly warm under the touch. Sadly Martijn couldn't exactly keep his door wide open to let the pleasant summer air in, no matter how much he wanted to. Neither Norwood, nor a single prefect was going to find out about his little business in his last year here at Hogwarts. Over his dead body. Even if that meant....baking in a dusty broom closet office.

Baking it was, as the proclaimed Slytherin wasn't going to change his outfit either. For once the sleeves of his dark blue button down were rolled up, leaving his untanned forearms bare. In a few months they'd sport a tan, speak of entire days of working in between soil and weeds. His hands would be busier, not just write one ballpoint pen after another onto parchment, but instead grow callouses in a few weeks of labour in the backyard. Martijn wasn't entirely sure which option he favoured, sitting in the middle of his little empire worked up from the ground, or be down below again and work as if every penny still had to be earned with more than just a contract and sickles over a desk. Both were hot, not in the positive sense. More the this shirt collar and tie combination leave me out of breath but it looks too classy to take off sense.

Instead he just leaned back in his chair a little, flipping the page on Verzen II by Willem Kloos. For some reason, it never got old. The spine started showing wrinkles through the many times it has been opened and closed. Laid out on the desk and picked up again like a ritual. Today was a calm day at the office, and Martijn ignored the feeling of dread at the thought of unmade profits with reading whenever he could. Hogwarts held no place for gardening, at least not to those who preferred their plants without too much movement and no sound at all. Hogsmeade was too cramped. As if bikes were a thing at this school. The Dutchman's options on the topic of spare time were fairly non-existent in a magical castle. Romantic poetry it was, then. He didn't go as far as disguising the cover in fear of being found out, as he doubted anyone at this place even knew Dutch, or Kloos. He knew the burly girl with steps as wide as those of a duck, but she didn't look like the type to enjoy literature. Then again, neither did he.

So when the echo of a careful knock resounded against the walls, Martijn didn't bother to look up at first. Merely straightening himself a little in his chair, he moved one leg over the other. Smoothing out some fabric wrinkles in the process. The book would be put down soon enough. The seventh year didn't think it would be almost instantly, as his eyes betrayed a curiousity he didn't knew he posessed today. The girl in his doorway was odd, a...people weren't supposed to dress up as cupcakes kind of odd. The rich never know what to do with their money odd. Martijn knew it was a trap to judge. His own attire spoke of a kind of wealth he only dreamed of posessing one day. Two ensembles in his closet, surrounded by worn down shirts and a single pair of jeans. Still, he found himself inwardly scowling, a habit too old to shake. The book had found its place on the warm desk wood, Martijn unconsciously fumbling with the cuffs at his elbows for a second. His disinterested gaze kept in place, his eyebrow merely raised.

He didn't have the reputation to be genuinely nice, but that didn't mean he was going to scare off customers either.

Long calloused fingers drummed a beat over Willem Kloos' name on the book cover as he muttered. "Anything you need?"

Adrienne almost yelped as the door opened suddenly, but carefully maintained her composure, putting on her best smile as he looked at her. However, when he seemed to judge her with his eyes she took objection with her own, patting down the front of her skirt defensively and clearing her throat to play it off like she hadn't noticed. Instead, she waited patiently for the proprietor of this... establishment to address her.

'They said it was a reputable business,' she thought disappointingly, having imagined a lovely little stall or a fully stocked store run by prefects. To Adrienne this looked like a speak easy and she was suddenly doubting her decision making in coming here. Her eyes wandered around the young man as she tried to get a better peak in the broom closet...discreetly. However, her eyes snapped back to his when he finally spoke.

"Anything I--" she stammered for a moment, clutching at the pearls around her neck and wondering if she should just go to Hogsmeade instead, "what sort of things do you sell here? it certainly doesn't look like your average shop."

Adrienne was obviously still a little skeptical about the entire operation and she had to ask some questions before she decided whether buying from this young man would get her summarily expelled from Hogwarts. Someone had muttered to her while she was getting sorted not to trust the Slytherins and from her estimation she had just stumbled on one so you couldn't begrudge her caution.
