Athelstan Lancelot Munn genuinely enjoyed attention - and it did not have anything to do with being a middle child, because he was the youngest one and received love and affection from both his sisters and Archie whenever he wanted to. He just enjoyed being in the spotlight as long as he was fully aware it would not stain the Munn name, and so he had volunteered to be taken as one of those people who were offered at the fundraiser event by the head students. To be entirely honest, he did not know a lot about events like these, as they reminded him of something way more archaic he had clearly seen in a history book and not at a school. Either way, his dear older brother and him had walked down to the lawns to have a look at the event, even though Stan had not been one of the chosen ones - and of course he had not even told Archibald that he volunteered. That would have been a surprise that unfortunately never came true. A short look at the stage told him that Brydon had not been picked either, and he pouted before remembering that he did not have to buy a ticket to spend time with the Gryffindor.

Rubbing his sunglasses on the edge of his shirt, Stan squinted into the sun before gazing at his brother again, then back to the stage. The fair point would be to vote for Kala - wasn’t Stan something like her brother-in-law now? It was an odd thing to think about, and yet he spent the galleon to get his hands on the five tickets, fanning them open as if he was going to play strip poker right now. He stumbled over his shoelaces in the process, carelessly leaving them open before dropping one of his tickets in the box for Kala and looking at the stage, winking at her. The situation between them was still awkward, yet he was able to pretend that it wasn’t as bad, because he valued their friendship too much to truly be annoyed for longer than necessary. Dark eyes wandered over the area, before he gently elbowed Archibald, staring up to him. He had spotted someone on the stage, and it was better to deliver a fair and subtle warning.

As if Archibald was going to be the one to bring shame upon their family. “Don’t you dare vote for the Nilsson kid,” he said quietly - words only heard by them as it was quite obvious he was talking about Njord Vikernes. It was bad enough Perce had befriended this guy - what was he thinking? It was common knowledge that they were supposed to strongly dislike the Nilsson offspring - and really, it wasn’t hard to dislike them because most of them were annoying buttheads anyway. But it seemed like Archibald had other plans, and being the responsible young man Athelstan was at times, it was only fair to take responsibility right now. Too bad there were in fact five tickets to spend and he wondered whether he should just make paper planes out of the other four tickets he was still holding.

The younger Munn brother craned his neck, spotting a familiar shock of brown hair and raising his arm to wave frantically at Brydon - which was normal, given that was how he treated most of his friends. With other people around, their interactions were more strained, yet working out well enough to make sure they were just friends - until Stan would find a better definition for whatever it was they were doing.

__
Stan is here with @Archibald Munn and gives him a fair warning not to vouch for a Nilsson. He drops his ticket for @Kala Faraji and waves happily at his bff @Brydon Wilkins (outft)

Sam wasn’t sure just how about this whole thing he was. Why did centaurs need money? COuldn’t a herd, however decimated, care for parentless young until they were capable of fending for themselves? There were a lot of pieces to this that seemed to be missing, and he wasn’t sure if it fell on the Head Boy’s shoulders, or the Head Girl’s. Theodora, realistically, could handle the position. She was intelligent and driven. She was also pushing herself much further than her limits allowed, and so the Ravenclaw wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up in a bed in the hospital wing after too much longer.

As for Lenny? Well. Someone had to have made a clerical error somewhere. Sam didn’t understand how giving the Slytherin any measure of power was a good idea, unless he was being set up to fail. If that was the case, Hogwarts was cruel, crueler than it seemed at first glance, and ultimately, that would be really fucked up. He hoped that the kid did okay, but….

Ignoring the way that the slimy little con’s voice made him want to cringe as he introduced the willing victims on stage, Samson watched as his little sister dropped a ticket into Lyle’s box, giving the Gryffindor a salute that he was sure meant to say ‘godspeed, you beautiful bastard’. She was probably bidding on him so that if she won, he wouldn’t have to worry about anything too crazy. It had just been accepted fact that as his best friend’s little sister, Amita was Lyle’s sister too; the hilarity was that the difference between Big Ami and Little Ami was that Amelie Prideux would likely laugh at her brother’s misery before helping him.

Debating whether or not to cast his lot to try and rescue his bestie from potential doom -the viewers are aware that with Theodora basically out of commission and Lenny in charge, anything can happen, right???-, the towering Ravenclaw turned to head to the ticket keeper and refresh himself on the pricing. He had already spotted Amita a handful of coins for some tickets, and he could just pinch off of hers but-

He collided with a blonde girl -Florence, he thought she was called- and the drink that he had been holding sloshed out over his hand, Sam able to lean out of his own way and only catch a bit of the butterbeer on the toes of his Converse. “Hey, man. No harm, no foul,” he replied cheerfully, switching his drink to the other hand and flicking off the excess dripping from his fingertips, careful so as not to hit either of them. “Are you okay? My height makes navigating crowds weird sometimes.”

---

Samson has a lot of feelings about the head students, is internally laughing about @Lysander Prideux’s unfortunate situation, contemplates bidding for him, and then runs into @Florence Ellis

Gretchen Kirke-Faust wasn’t entirely sure why she was there.

That was an odd thought. The girl had attended every social event that Hogwarts organised, whether she wanted to or not – and more often than not, she didn’t want to. The girl didn’t like crowds because she didn’t like people, or more accurately: people didn’t like her, and they weren’t afraid to let it show. Gretchen knew this, she knew she wasn’t wanted, could feel people wishing her away with every step she took. Walking through a crowded room felt like navigating a minefield. In a sense, she had internalised this antagonism against her. Even when she was surrounded by peers who couldn’t care less about her presence, she felt anxious, wishing herself away with every passing second. She’d be much more comfortable in the Ravenclaw tower, hiding behind a cauldron or a book, yet she showed up to these events regardless of how lonely and rejected they made her feel. She had to be seen, out and about, amongst them, having fun – even if she had to fake it, even if she had to fake everything. If she stayed away, the very people who wanted her gone would win. So she had to be there, socialise with those who didn’t judge by family names to spite those that did. It was something her father had taught her.

Gretchen marched towards the boxes of the volunteers with a faux confident stride, the usually characteristic ticking of her heels absent thanks to the lawns’ soft grass underneath her feet. Her kneazle-cat followed closely, effortlessly keeping up with his owner’s usual pace. Gretchen had never been one to saunter, and a quick step made it easier to keep her head high and her back straight and tall. Even when all she wanted to do was nervously look around her – panicky eyes shifting from one possible threat to another – and make herself smaller than the five foot short she already was. Those fears and insecurities were private, hers and hers alone, buried beneath layers of solid granite.

She passed Sindre Nilsson at the ticket boxes with the proud, stony demeanour of a gargoyle, only two boxes separating them as she halted at the one labelled ‘Njord Vikernes.’ Her French braid swept over her shoulder languidly as she turned her head to take notice of the Nilsson and the Poe, heavy lids partly obstructing cold blue eyes that refused to show any kind of recognition. She took her time to count her tickets, nails that twinkled with painted stars picking through them carefully, after all – she had just as much right to be there as anyone else. That was the point. So why did she still feel like she didn’t know why she had come?

Finally, the tickets found their way to Njord Vikernes’ box. All forty of them. She hoped her friend (were they friends?) appreciated it. They made an unlikely duo, a Faust and, on his mother’s side, a Nilsson. But being rights was a passion they had in common, so there was another reason for her to attend this charity event – the charity itself. For the life of her, she couldn’t imagine volunteering for this thing. The Ravenclaw glanced at the stage before turning away from the ticket boxes, to catch a glimpse of her ally and friend. She could only imagine the kind of anxiety she’d have to fight if she was up there, on display, but then the Hufflepuff was braver than her. She knew that from the moment he had enlisted her to save a mermaid from his own family. It demonstrated a kind of unwavering, steadfast belief in his own principles that the Faust could only envy. She wanted to support the charity, but she also wanted to support the kind, nature-loving pureblood who’d been the very first to change the stubborn witch’s mind about something. About him.

Her eyes consciously avoided the auctioneer as they tore themselves away from the stage. Another person she’d changed her mind about. She didn’t need to see the face that belonged to that familiar voice, the one that was announcing how he was still waiting for Koenig to marry him. Because why would anything have changed over the summer?

Billy lead her to a spot at the table – it’d be a mistake to say he followed her there, because while Gretchen always walked as if she had a specific goal in mind, that didn’t mean she did. Sometimes the witch was the one following the cat – and he had a clear target on his mind: food. He jumped on a seat and his owner sat down next to him, smoothing down her skirt and gesturing that she wanted to order, though she wasn’t really all that hungry. The girl rested her elbows against the edge of the table, listlessly twirling her wand between her fingers, while her feline companion kept an eye – and nose – out for oncoming food.

She knew why she was supposed to be there. There were reasons, good reasons. She just hoped it wasn’t really because it was organised by the Head Students, and she wanted to show support for a classmate who clearly had his eyes on much prettier girls. That’d be stupid. Right?

Right.

---------------
Gretchen’s miserable but doesn’t show it, what else is new! She gives @Sindre Nilsson a stony look before bidding on her pal @Njord Vikernes. She then sits down at one of the tables with her kneazle-cat next to her and orders a meal.

What happened to the fawns was tragic, of course. Losing their parents, their brothers
and sisters must have been the worst thing in the world for them, and while there was a side to Ophelia that felt attracted to the idea of such a tragedy, she couldn't imagine how she could've gone on in life if she had ever lost her own family. There were things, it seemed, that weren't quite worth the suffering they'd bring. So rather quickly, the eaglette had gathered her coins together, double checking under her bed and within the secret compartments of her dresser drawers and trunk for everything she had so she could donate it all to the fundraiser the head students had put together for the baby centaurs.

At the event, Ophelia could only bite her tongue as Lenny Plunkett explained the event and introduced their peers who were essentially selling themselves in a raffle. It made the girl feel guilty for enjoying the fundraiser as much as she did, her odd mind already painting portraits of each volunteer in her head, longing pain in their eyes as she imagined them all pining after her own pure soul. It was beautiful, like her, and through most of her time standing and watching the stage, the eaglette's head spun, mind a little frazzled from all the possibilities before. Of course, she'd have to win before any of her fantasies could become a reality, but the witch didn't mind her chances.

Shaking her head, Ophelia cleared her throat softly, innocently casting her eyes around her behind her sunglasses, a hint of blush coloring her cheeks. Daintily, she walked over towards the boxes, a finger gingerly tapping against the tickets in her grasp as she did her best to met the gaze of each volunteer, as if searching in their eyes if they were meant to be. After skipping a few contenders - not counting them out just yet - Ophelia stopped in front of a particularly handsome boy; a Gryffindor by his brawny looks alone, confirmed only by the fact that the blonde knew him by face.

The blonde smiled softly, her sunglasses sliding down her nose to reveal her eyes twinkling with the promise of an unattainable happy ending that belied her gentle features. She stood for a moment, as of her gaze whispered a prayer for herself before stepping forward and slipping a ticket inside his box. She blinked at him, her cheeks blushing brighter, then stepped away into the crowd, turning her head to search out any other perfect candidates for a whirlwind romance.

Thanatos wasn’t sure what was going on, but Tori’s cousin and an unnamed girl decided to storm onto stage. Uncertain as to whether he should do anything about it, Thanatos settled on nothing. He had a feeling the two fourth years would not be happy to see him and his instinct was almost always correct in most cases. Staring in the direction of the stage, he wondered if Elias Deveaux knew about the purpose of the event before going up there. It seemed terribly reckless to rush in like that, but it wasn’t as if Thanatos would ever be doing something like that.

Instead, the Ravenclaw wondered if it was time for him to leave. The raffle tickets his sister handed to him were all placed in Tori’s box, so even if she did berate him for leaving early, he could at least tell her he did what she asked. Despite how unreasonable Kris could seem, she wasn’t that unreasonable of a person. She still operated on some type of logic, though the rules were still unknown to him.

Stealing a look around the crown, he made a brief study of everyone to ensure that none of his family was in the crowd. After a few seconds, he realized it would be a difficult feat considering there were hundreds of students gathered here. Eris and Hynos could be hiding somewhere further away from the stage, but since he couldn’t see them, there was a good chance his siblings couldn’t see him as well.

The decision to walk away was unanimous in his mind. As he turned around to walk away, he noticed something on the floor. Swooping down, Thanatos realized it was one of his tickets. His eyes studied the ground for more potentially misplaced tickets. It wasn’t typical of him to lost things because he was careful with his belongings. It might have been the large crowd and the rush to get to the boxes before everyone did, but he slipped up this time.

Deciding that the reason did not matter, he walked back up to Tori’s box and inserted the lost ticket. Here was hoping that he didn’t find anymore lost tickets.

Cosimia did not think much of this event, or any events that were held at Hogwarts, for that matter. Although she would much rather be anywhere but here, her parents had send her quite the nasty growler, showing their disappointment in her. Cosimia did not tell her parents about this fundraiser. They were obsessed with power and making a name for themselves in Great Britian, so naturally, they wanted Cosimia to get involved. In theory, they wanted her to win every person in the auction. Naturally, Cosimia would not allow that to happen. She was not going to put her ticket in every box, especially because she did not like a majority of the people up for grabs.

After pushing away her better judgement, Cosimia headed down to the event, arriving fashionably late. Settling into a seat in the back corner, Cosimia watched as her peers danced over each other, dropping little tickets into each others boxes, giving each other glances as they walked by. Cosimia ignored much of the commotion of the event, wondering where he tickets would fall. Her parents had sent her way to many tickets, hoping to throw their money down everyones throat. They did not care about the centaurs, or their causalities. For them, this fundraiser was all about power. About pushing Cosimia down everyones throat, and making her look like the star. Cosimia was not that interested. She enjoyed watching the drama unfold around the contestants, but that was the only good thing about this event. She wanted to strangle the headboy, who seemed just a little too happy to be here, and the crowd appeared to grow anxious of the impending outcomes of the auction. Did people really think this thing mattered that much?

Pushing herself from the chair, Cosimia decided to drop one ticket in a box. But whose box would she choose? Most of the people in the auction were accounted for, through various endeavors. While it would be interesting to see Kala's face if she put a ticket in her box, she really didn't want to spend an evening with Brydon's bff, let alone anyone that was associated with that annoyingly attractive lion. She moved slowly past their boxes, her blonde hair following behind her. Where would she end up? The only logical chose would be Mars. She wouldn't mind an evening with him, maybe smooching somewhere under the stars, but she did not need this auction to get that. She has known Mars since childhood, and his wild nature was known throughout the castle. After all, Cosimia was not the only person he was smooching with in Hogwarts. Nonetheless, he was the safe bet. With another thought, she dropped her ticket in Mars boxes, turning away quickly, looking for the exit. Although she wanted to leave, she decided to stick around for a bit longer. After all, what if she won?

------

Cosimia was not interested in this event, nor what it stood for. Her parents were pressuring her to go, sending her a bunch of tickets and a nasty growler which forced her out of the dorm. She ultimately decided to give one ticket to @Martín Marzán, considering he would be just about the only person up for auction, that she would want to spend some time with.

As much fun as the auction wasn't Kala still found herself mingling through the crowds of people having been deviated from her pursuit as soon as Lenny Plunkett re-emerged to make everyone's life miserable. The only distraction that had proven a little diverting was drawn away back too the stage and the witch felt a small stiring of annoyance. She took the moment to give Lenny a look that said promised large quantities of pain and other mild annoyances to last him the rest of the year if he so much as called her up onto the stage. It did occur to her that she could simply refuse to go up there, but she knew how bad it would look.

Internally she was annoyed and bored, not even the dramas unfolding around her bringing any form of enjoyment. These were the regularitied, she realized. From Jisik Sa to Felton Quigley, there was no lack of possibility for drama. Kala couldn't come to enjoy any of it tonight as she noticed a pair of familiar Munn brothers and felt the sudden urge to hide. It was one thing to see Stan here among the bidders, this was something she would be doing with her best friends. But Archibald Munn at a fundraiser for the inhuman creatures that had nearly killed them? She felt her own little bubble of drama start to create itself. She didn't even want to deal with the crowds or the bidders, now she'd have to hide indefinitely until both Stan and Archie were out of sight.

If that weren't trouble enough, she also spotted Aisley Munn near a bidding box with Felix's name on it. The Phantom noose suddenly felt very real and a little too tight around her neck for comfort. After everything that had happened during the summer she suddenly realized what a horrible idea this had been in the first place. Of course she couldn't leave now so Kala did was she did best when she wanted to leave but couldn't. She settled at an empty table in one of the dimmer lit corners and ordered something to drink, not even minding that she was being overcharged and further helping the aucrion. She spotted Brydon from her seat and nearly bolted, but it was more than likely that he would flock to Stan and then she'd be pulled along towards Archie as well.

Watching the events unfold from afar would probably be more amusing and require less interaction. The usually social lioness didn't really feel like talking to anyone if she didn't have to.

---
Kala is just going to hang back for a bit and watch people interact and make fools of themselves. If anyone wants to approach her feel free.

Archibald Percival Munn (The Fifth) was quite sure that -at least in the ever so wonderful Great Britain- there were more than a couple of laws forbidding the sale and trade of actual living human beings, even if said actual living human beings had volunteered to participate in that utterly ridiculous event. For such reasons, the heir to the Munn family was rather surprised when he had heard that the professors had allowed that...What was that they had called it again?...Fundraiser to occur, especially when the whole thing felt like a mockery of human trafficking and was that not like a taboo subject or something? Not to mention quite illegal. Either way, it was not Archie’s problem, as he had never had the slightest intention of participating or even attending such an event. Oh, but he should have known Athelstan expected him to attend.

Unquestionably, there were many things the snake would have done for his younger brother, some of them which would have been severely reproached when seen in others, but no one ever said that Archie Munn was not a hypocrite, and the simple truth was that it was almost impossible for him to say ‘no’ when Athelstan requested something. And so, there he was, in his simple black shirt and fitted grey pants, stuck watching that sorry excuse for an auction from behind matte sunglasses. He did not even bother with buying tickets, of course he didn’t, because why would he waste a single galleon on an event meant to help centaurs of all things possible - or rather the possible offsprings of those same centaurs that had attempted to murder him, his brother, and Kala. None of that made any sense to him, and the more he tried to figure it all out, the more he wanted to leave. Yet he couldn’t, not without Athelstan.

So it was that he fiddled with the triskele ring that adorned one of his fingers that evening, storm grey eyes falling onto his watch rather than on the stage where the volunteers were standing. Archie didn’t even want to know what kind of people would volunteer for such insanity, and just imagine how surprised, shocked, and horrified he was when he realized his fiancée and two of his friends were among them. Let’s just say that the sweet embrace of death would have been welcomed. In the most judging and accusatory of manners, he looked at Felix, disgusted by how far some people would fall for the sole sake of seeking attention (good thing he had never learned his brother had been a volunteer, right?). Then, he looked at Kala, and his expression resulted unreadable, because the Munn heir wondered what she was even thinking with standing up there after centaurs had almost killed them. By the time he finally turned to look at Njord, Archie felt the gentle touch of his brother’s elbow against his side, and he frowned slightly, knowing exactly what was coming.

Don’t you dare bid for the Nilsson kid. Had Archie not been the overly stern and serious seventeen year old he was, he would have laughed. It wasn’t like he had planned on bidding for Njord, especially considering that Athelstan should have noticed he hadn’t even bought any tickets, but there was something upsetting about his brother’s words, and he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was. Yes, yes he could, it was the fact that Archie never judged Athelstan on who he befriended, no matter how terrible he thought some of those people were, and it annoyed him that the younger Munn thought he could judge him on the one friendship that didn’t quite go according to his family’s standards. Thus, actions were taken, and as his brother was busy waving at whoever he was he was waving, Archie snatched one of his tickets from his hand, calmly walking towards the box with Njord’s name on it and dropping it there nonchalantly. And he turned to look at the younger boy, a brow quirking.

“What are you going to do about it, Lance?” Archie asked, his voice as calm as always, no hint of emotion reaching it despite the way he stared at his brother.

---
Like the perfectly bitter pureblood he is, Archie disapproves of pretty much everything and everyone around him. He judges @Felix Wolfhard and @Kala Faraji for volunteer for that event and is annoyed at @Athelstan Munn's warnings. So, in response, he steals one of his brother's tickets and bids on Njord. <3

In Mathilde’s humble opinion, this was the best event to kick off the new school year – if not the best event that had ever been organised at Hogwarts. Then again, apparently last New Year’s Eve there had been a party, which was interrupted by an ancient curse that matched everyone in pairs of two and expected them to kiss. Mats was still a bit mad about missing that! She’d gone home for the holidays, as always, but who knew what she had missed out on? Maybe she could’ve met her soulmate! Maybe she could’ve kissed Preben Nilsson. …Earlier. The memory of kissing the Gryffindor beater during the previous Quidditch season brought a smile to the girl’s lips.

So far, she’d been inspecting the food that was ready to be served, approving of the appetizing scents that came from the table. Everything looked good, as did the general scenery – the flowers, the tables, the lanterns,… It’d be nice to eat out here, that’s for sure, but ten galleons was insanely expensive though. Mats easily converted it in her head and came to the conclusion that it was about fifty-nine euros. She shook her head, the smile still lingering on her lips, blonde curls bouncing. Magical folk were so irresponsible with money.

She turned away from the food and looked at the stage, wondering what Lenny was up to now. It came as no surprise to the amateur business entrepreneur that her friendly rival had set this show up – but she had to admit, the Slytherin had really upstaged her this time. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and let her eyes glide over the row of volunteers. She doubted Lenny cared about centaurs – heck, after what had happened before the summer, she doubted anyone cared about centaurs right now. Mathilde’s train carriage had been evacuated quickly and effortlessly, but this had apparently not been the case for everyone. No, the charity itself surely wasn’t the reason for the impressive turn out – the people on stage were.

Mats had to admit that the Head Students had really managed to put some good-looking guys and gals together for this auction – even though, in her opinion, the best looking guy wasn’t amongst them. Still, she figured this could be fun, and walked over to where they sold the tickets. One galleon – now that’s more like it. Now with five tickets in hand, Mats sauntered to the boxes, examining the names on each. Lysander Prideux, Felix Wolfhard, Emil Madeline,… They really knew what made the Hogwarts’ girls (and guys!) tick, huh? If they made a Dating Sim out of this, Mathilde would buy it. She didn't need a charity for that.

Ultimately, she stopped at Mars’ box and had to stifle a laugh. Of course the ego-centric Spaniard had volunteered. She glanced back at the stage, where the older Gryffindor had unbuttoned his shirt and was that a crown? What would that be like – would he just spend the entire date singing his own praises? Or -- was the winner allowed to choose how they were going to spend the day? Was there a potential timeline in which one made Martín Marzán, the Martín Marzán, carry one’s bags for a day?

Amused by that thought, Mathilde dropped a ticket in her housemate’s box.

Mats approves of this event, is even low-key impressed tbh xD She thinks the food is severely overpriced but spends a galleon on tickets, and bids one on @Martín Marzán
