Emil held his hands at his waist as the professor introduced the lesson for the day, nodding casually as a grin slowly pulled at the end of his lips. He loved summer at Hogwarts, somehow finding a lot less pressure in classes than in the regular semesters, and equally feeling like he had plenty of time to relax and have fun. Of course, Professor Dubois' classes didn't often feel much different than what she had for the day now, but he appreciated being outside nonetheless. Despite not really enjoying the heat, Emil was glad to be dressed for the weather in one of his favorite pink t-shirts and swim trunks. He had an old pair of sneakers on, knowing from years of taking her class that there'd be plenty of running and physical tasks that simply wouldn't work well with the flip flops he would've wanted to wear instead.

As the teams were assigned, Emil sauntered over to his designated side, rubbing away at the faint trace of sleep in his eyes as he mentally chased away the idea of sleeping. As if to help wake himself up, the snake stretched out his arms a little and bounced on the heels of his feet, watching idly to identify the people on his team. Immediately, he noticed the badger he'd spent a wonderful starlit evening with when the carnival had been in town. At the memory of the night -- of the dancing, the gentle laughter, the skin tickling touch of his flesh brushing against hers -- Emil couldn't help the tinge of pink that spread across his cheeks and reached to bleed into his ears. He kept his eyes on her, a soft smile accompanying the twinkle in his eyes until he thought she'd noticed him back and offered her a small, somewhat purposefully awkward wave of his hand. He nearly walked over to her to cement his place in her attentions before he noticed a familiar flash of uneasiness by him in the form of his friend, Albus.

The grin he held from before faded as he considered his options until he eventually went against the calling of his heart and stepped over to stand by his friend, a small, dreamy sigh parting his lips as his thoughts lingered for one last fleeting moment before they left him for the moment. Albus was a friend, an old one and one he considered himself loyal to, and although she didn't speak it, he could see she needed some help. Big crowds of people and his fellow Slytherin didn't mix well together, and already he could see her muscles stiffening up, as if she were already entrapped by a freezing charm.

"Albus, let's work together. I'll watch your back, you mine?" He suggested, pulling his wand out of his pocket and giving it a twirl in his fingers before gripping the handle. He offered the witch a small smile, turning his gaze away from her and readying himself as the class began. Left and right spells were flung, and it was all a little surprising at how quickly things devolved into chaos within the teams already. The snake quirked an eyebrow at some of his peers as they attacked their own teammates, wondering idly what the point of teams were if people were just going to attack whoever they wanted anyway. But he didn't much waste time on the thought, quickly choosing a fellow frozen teammate to help unfreeze as he wanted to win.

[ ★ ] | 🔥 Emil is Team Fire 🔥

Emil loves summer at Hogwarts and already likes the lesson for the day. He noticed @Fae Forsythe and has heart eyes as he remembers their good time at Gala. He waves a hello at her and almost goes over as they're on the same team before he notices his friend @Albus Amor and decides to team with her to help her out for now since he knows the poor baby doesn't do well in big groups.

He is somewhat surprised at how quickly things went to chaos but focuses on trying to win and aims at @Alani Lua-Millers to try and unfreeze her!

Though Defense Against the Dark Arts was not Fae’s best class, somehow she still enjoyed it. It was probably due to the fun lessons Professor Dubois often provided for them, and this time was no exception. The sun was shining generously and its warm rays reached down and tickled the students, prompting her to smile up at the blue sky and enjoy the warmth for a moment. She was dressed for the weather, wearing yellow shorts and a ruffled white top that left her shoulders bare. Her shoes were probably a bit too new to be wearing to an outside class that involved running, but she didn’t mind if they would get a little dirty. They were only shoes, anyway.

Her emerald eyes watched the crowd of students as everyone got assigned to a team, and she felt the excitement bubbling in her stomach before her gaze fell on the tall snake that had approached her on the opening night of the carnival. His eyes were focused on her, and she felt that familiar, warm feeling rush to her face as her cheeks turned the color of the roses that adorned her shoes. He had elicited this response a lot from her that night, usually followed by a giggle that would escape her lips as he spoke honey laced words. Her lips curled into a smile as she raised her hand and waved, returning the gesture. It seemed like he was going to come over to her; but instead, he turned his attention to the girl near him. They seemed like friends and she didn’t want to bother them, though Fae didn’t have much time to linger on it because the game had started.

She watched as the chaos quickly unfolded, teammates turning against teammates and a lot of screeching words being thrown around. The badger didn’t quite understand what was going on, so instead, she tried to focus her attention on her teammates, looking for the frozen statues as she scurried through the crowds. Most of her friends were on the opposite team, and she briefly wondered if they’d try to freeze her, too. She wouldn’t put it past Idys to fling the spell at her for the fun of it. Spotting Felix freezing one of her teammates, she hurried over, gripping her wand in her hand, fairly certain he wouldn’t attempt the freezing spell on her.

‘’Fifi!’’ she exclaimed in mock-exasperation. ‘’That’s not very nice of you to do.’’ She pointed her wand at the icy student, mimicking the professor’s movements as Felix bolted, probably in search of another target. ‘’Calor!’’

Fae is excited about today's lesson and the warm weather (she's dressed for summer). She notices @Emil Madeline's eyes on her and blushes, waving back at him as she remembers the Gala. The game starts, Fae doesn't understand what's going on so she tries to focus on unfreezing her teammates. She chases Felix away from @Drew Silvers and attempts to unfreeze him.

For about three seconds the ice felt nice, then that faded and all the badger felt was cold. This was probably what Elsa felt like, freezing everything all the time. No, wait, the cold never bothered her. In that case the redhead was probably more akin to Anna, specifically Anna in the scene right after she fell in the river. She was just starting to rethink her desire to be frozen earlier, replacing it with the newfound desire to be thawed out and warm, when Brandy swirled into view.

Heat flowed through her and the ice vanished as the ravenclaw energetically made her escape, laughing about being sunshine. It wasn't the first time Tori had been told she was sunshine, but the two instances were vastly different, and she was fairly sure the definition of sunshine itself was different as well. It was very fitting in this situation though.

Turning back to her fellow hufflepuff, she tried one more time to defreeze her. "Calor!" If it didn't work this time, then poor Alani would just have to suffer a little longer. She had already been caught here once and if she wanted her team to win, she couldn't linger. With the spell done, she scurried over to the lake. While the sand kicked up into her sandals was hot and uncomfortable, at least here she could dip her feet into the water every so often while she waited for more people to thaw out.

Tori is saved by @Brandy Sage and tried to unfreeze @Alani Lua-Millers one more time before seeking refuge by the lake

It may seem strange, or maybe not so much for those that know her, as unlikely as it can seem sometimes, that Helen’s first thought about the summer is “ice cream”. Not because of the infinity of flavors that cropped out, for she rarely strayed from the chocolate, but because it was the complete opposite of the deafening racket of humanity, the blistering heat, the scorching sun. She loved the vibrant colors that would surround the world, but the intensity of the life over summertime tired her more than usually. So many things to see, so many human interactions to study and understand. It was always an inordinate amount of information to be processed and filled under the appropriate categories in her mind, a never-ending study of humanity in an effort to be able to at least falsely behave as everyone else whilst being acutely aware that most of said behaviors didn’t fit a logical pattern. Or, at least, an emotionless one. Logic couldn’t be applied to emotions, not really, not in the way she needed to be able to truly understand life as it is. To allow oneself to be ruled by animalistic impulses and chemical imbalances in the brain was an anathema for the redhead. Helen was aware that most, if not all, of her classmates fell under the previous category and she was classifying all reactions she could observe so she could anticipate their responses, or even aim to influence them in the case the reaction could be aggressive.

It was all that why she ended up slowly walking to the DADA class without her robe as it was going to be outside under the sun, having chosen instead a sky blue T-shirt a couple of sizes too big for her. “Inherited” from one of her cousins the last summer and the only one still in her trunk. Her eyes jumped from one participant to another, to the teacher and back, taking it all in whilst trying to ignore the blistering feeling on her face and arms. Helen’s usual blank mask slipped for a moment, showing her surprise at hearing what the class was going to be about, a widening of her pupils and the tic on the over-tense jaw line joined by a dry swallow betraying her line of thought. She knew what a game of tag was, who wouldn’t? But the redhead hadn’t really played the game in years. Not since... No, not even then. When she ended up with “them” she had already los the interest in childish games or on being loud. And in the Wolf’s... She fit better as the “aloof cousin”, having forgotten how to really interact with children her own age, to enjoy the time spent with them.

A small shudder made her focus back on the teacher’s words, for once trying to be one of the first ones in the queue for the team pickings. Not that she actually cared for the team she would end up in, it was mostly that she wanted to start looking for cover already. In both situations it would be the most useful option. As soon as the parchment slip is in between the fingers of her left hand (the wand was already in the right ever since the class started), she was already running, swerving in between her classmates, eyes firm on the small patch of trees that hid the quidditch pitch from her view. It was risky, a calculated risk that could mean a spell to the back before even knowing what team she was on, but she was counting on her speed. She was used to run, something priceless when living on the streets, the almost unconscious knowledge on how to slip between people and gain the most distance with any pursuers in the least amount of time, and never completely gave up on it even years later. The first spell made her sped up, forsaking the focus on her finish lane in exchange on peripherally checking her team. Ice. Attacking team. A full-blown grimace twisted her lips when turning around a couple of yards from the nearest person, still too far from any cover, and mumbled a curse under her breath. Why? Why did she have to be part of the attackers? Was it too late to change? A quick look to the situation made it clear that the practical had started and it was high time to do something useful before she got mistaken for the wrong team. She despised violence, attacking, yes, but losing, being defeated, not moving a finger to allow them to win, that was even worse. Arguments, fun, vendettas, everything was happening at the same time and so fast that she need a couple of seconds just to realize what she is seeing, before even trying to plan anything. It was too much, too intense, too little time to think, and she was never a fan of pursuing a course of action without a plan. She needed to think! Only a damn minute! And yet, Helen couldn’t ask for a cease fire. Her washed-out grey jeans hit the ground when the redhead went down on one knee, intent in making herself as small of a target as possible even when she wasn’t supposed to be under fire. The tip of her wand is touching the grass and an almost innocent smile blooms on her face. – “Glacius. “ – The spell is nothing but a whisper, pointed at the ground in between one of her housemate’s legs. Sage, if her memory was right. Helen couldn’t let the other one warm up her own team. And just because she didn’t want to attack it didn’t mean that she couldn’t do anything. The redhead didn’t even wait to see if the spell hit the intended target, instead running to get a better angle for the next shot. She was completely unaware that the smile on her face had started spreading almost to the point of a full-blown one, or that her mask had more than cracked at the minute. Helen was too focused on winning to realize it.

Helen doesn't like summer, and she wasn't to enthusiastic about a mock battle. But even if she thought about running away for a minute, she decided to suck it up and start creating havoc. As it stands, she has tried to freeze the grounds under @Brandy Sage's legs before running around again. She has a new victim planned, but, who is it?

The prospect of having class outside immediately brought a smile to Cadi's face. She hated being cooped up in the castle on a lovely sunny day, especially in the summer when the sun was so warm and inviting. Her red hair bounced up and down off her shoulders as she skipped through the castle to where their lesson was being held for the day. As the professor introduced that day's assignment, Cadi's smile turned into a wide grin. She loved getting to use magic while moving around. It made her think of those Muggle arcade games that her father took her to when she was little. The Welsh girl appreciated that her professor was putting a magical spin on a Muggle game. It would be exactly the sort of thing that Cadi herself would have come up with if she ever felt so inclined to teach. Maybe Defense Against the Dark Arts would not be as dull as she had thought based on her flipping through the OWL textbooks. She was a little upset to see that she had drawn into the Ice team. Cadi vastly preferred defensive positions to offensive ones, so actively going after people in order to freeze them was not her idea of fun.

Once the game was started, the Hufflepuff was taken aback by the flurry of people running around in the open field by the lake. Since when were there this many people in class? Clearly, she needed to look behind her desk in the front row more often. Unsure of who was who, much less who was on which team, Cadi tried to remember who had not been on her team when they drew slots. She gave up on that idea immediately, Instead, she just waited for a few people to become frozen and then waited to see which classmates were trying to unfreeze them. Cadi saw that Brandy unfroze Tori, so she ran in Brandy's direction and cast, "Glacius!" hoping that the charm would stick.

Maeve liked Defense Against the Dark Arts well enough. Well, that wasn't entirely true. She liked the subject and the practical applications of learning defensive spells - mostly in order to learn how to render them ineffective - but she did not care for the bombastic teaching style of Professor Dubois. Why couldn't Maeve just read her textbook at her own pace and then take her NEWT exams? Maeve never understood the purpose of these silly games. Today's activity - a take on some Muggle game that the Ravenclaw had no interest in learning about - was the epitome of what Maeve despised about summer classes. She pulled on a big, floppy hat as she exited the castle, as the Irish pureblood did not want to risk burning her ivory skin. did they really need to come outside to learn this?

The seventh year felt like she was well past the age of playing games, but she was a little relieved to have been assigned to the Ice team. At least she would have the authority to do something, rather than rely on her incompetent teammates to unfreeze her. Maeve audibly sighed as the other students got far too involved in the spirit of the game. Annoyed, Maeve decided that all she wanted to do was go back inside and read a book. Since she was allowed to freeze people in this "game," the Ravenclaw concluded that the fastest way to end the game was to simply freeze everybody, on both teams. Looking around, Maeve spotted her second cousin. Unsure what team Aisley was on, and, quite frankly, not caring which it was, Maeve pointed her wand toward Aisley and cast, "Glacio!"

❄❄FIRST IC MAEVE POST EVER!!!❄❄
Maeve is annoyed that she has to take part in a Muggle game, even one with a magical twist. Wanting the game to be over, she's decided that she's going to just freeze everybody. Her first target: @Aisley Munn, because Maeve always loves messing with Munns. She's also wearing an obnoxiously large floppy hat because Irish paleness + sun = lobsterdom.

Just as Florentin had successfully unfrozen Leander - although he already regretted it - the sudden cold of another freezing spell ran over his body, making him pause in the movement while he turned into a pretty and overly fragile ice statue. The worst part was that he could not even curse in that moment, hand still wrapped around his wand. In his unfortunate state, he did not even realize that another spell was aimed at him, though unsuccessful either way. The sun shone just a little brighter as Martín appeared in front of him. He was on the opposite team and yet he quietly casted the spell that made the cold leave Florentin's body again, charming a soft smile on the French boy's features. "Merci," he purred, leaning in to place a kiss on the Spaniard's cheek before their moment was interrupted by Leander's screeching, again. Immediately, Flo pointed his wand at his dormmate, raising a brow at him. "I can cast the freezing charm too, you know - you were better as a mute ice sculpture." Maybe they could just gorgonize him instead, the thought was a rather pleasant one.

Cautiously, the tall young man looked around, watching for frozen students that needed some heat to melt again. Munn. To be honest, Florentin could not care less about whether she was frozen or not, wondering whether she would shatter in a thousand pieces of red-haired fille de put if pushed over. Was it too early for murder? Maybe, and the snake was almost surprised about his own, savage thoughts. Either way he approached her, making sure no one else was going to aim a freeze charm at him. "Remember when they burned all the ginger witches? Maybe it works here, too," he almost whispered, giving her a sweet smile before casting the spell. "Calor!"

Severin Larsson
© Tine // She/Her
Awards: 41

Why couldn't Professor Dubois do regular classes like every other teacher, too? It was a mystery to Severin, much like making Marzán a teacher's aide was a mystery to him. At least their team mates were successful, although most freezes were just as quickly unfrozen again. He doubted that this game would come to halt any time soon. It was then when Karma kicked him in the face like a raging hippogriff, and Orion Austen out of all people froze him. He could not even rage at Marzán for ruining Zerner's work of having frozen Deschamps, because he himself had turned into ice, frozen in the movement and very unhappy about it. The cold did not bother him - it was the humiliation and the failure that ran down his spine, so much more painful than being covered in a thin layer of ice that refused to melt in the early summer sunlight.

Like a queen of conquered land, Aisley Munn approached him - and oh, how the Swede wished he could move to fire several spells at her chest instead of staring her down with glacier-coloured eyes. No wonder the Munns were so tainted if they so freely let their lips touch mudbloods. The slap took him by surprise, and he could feel the pain despite his currently frozen state, every whispered word a small dagger shoved in between his ribs. Then, the effects of the charm fell off him, and long fingers immediately tightened around his wand. But what good was it to hex someone's back if one could not see the pain and suffering on their face? He knew better than this, groaning and refusing to touch his - definitely reddened - cheek, instead looking for a new victim. Almost carelessly, he aimed his wand at one of the girls, muttering "Glacius!" in passing by.

Gazing around the battlefield, he saw that Aisley was frozen now, too - and therefore a perfect target for an act of revenge. Slowly, he walked over the field, pausing right in front of her. Pale fingers touched her cheek softly. "Now, isn't that unfortunate?" Severin asked almost softly - seconds before reaching out and returning the slap to her face, uncaring of the fact she was a girl. "Calor," he added as an afterthought, with the right wand movement. "Now we are even."

Felix uses the f-word once

Freezing his target had turned out to be easy, succeeding at his first try. Fae appeared at his side and tried to unfreeze her teammate, but Felix bolted before he could see the result. He wasn’t going to freeze Fae; she would be safe, at least from him. Scanning the students for another target, his eyes fell on the tall Slytherin he’d spotted waving at Fae earlier. He didn’t know what was going on between them, but his instinct to protect her kicked in and he raised his wand, pointing it at his target and firing the freezing charm at him. His plan was to stay put and watch his result, but something else caught his attention.

Felix hadn’t bothered to keep up with the war some of the purebloods were fighting, acting like they were in The Lion King and the Pride Landers were duking it out with the Outsiders. Honestly, he couldn’t even figure out who belonged where, because they were all one giant mess. When he saw what was happening, he was livid. His hand tightened around his wand, the other balling into a fist as he strode over to Severin Larsson who had just slapped Aisley. Oh hell no. He had missed the previous exchange, but that didn’t matter as he pushed his way through the crowd until he stood before the snake, immediately raising his free hand to give a rough push against Severin’s shoulder before it found its way to Severin’s collar, gripping it tightly. The lion glared down at the other boy as he felt the heat rushing through his body, narrowing his eyes at him. ‘’What the fuck do you think you’re doing?’’ He didn’t care that he hardly knew Severin and he didn’t care that they were in class and their professor was watching them, his sole focus was the slimy snake in front of him.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed Aisley was still frozen, so he quickly raised his wand and muttered the spell to unfreeze her before returning his fiery gaze to Severin. Every fiber in his being was screaming at him to just punch him, to let his fist collide with his jaw, and it took Felix everything he had to control himself. Besides, Aisley would probably want to exact her own revenge on Severin.

---
Felix targets @Emil Madeline next because he don't like what's going on between him and Fae before spotting @Severin Larsson slap @Aisley Munn. He's pissed so he walks over, pushes Severin and grabs him by the collar and then tries to unfreeze Aisley.

Honestly, as much as Martín enjoyed Defense Against the Dark Arts, had been considerably excited about becoming a TA, and was having a great time enjoying the sunlight and being utterly shirtless, this wasn’t nearly as enjoyable as that one memorable class during springtime. He had always been one to enjoy both healthy and unhealthy competition, but there was something about that that just didn’t seem quite right. Perhaps it was that last time, for him, everything had been about himself - about admiring how good he looked when sporting golden wings and being entertained. Now, this class felt like the harmless recreation of a battle, and while there had always been that itch to seek war in the young -and very much self proclaimed- descendant of Ares, it was not nearly as enjoyable when his friends were caught up in the middle.

In fact, he had been annoyed when Florentin had been frozen, and the cheek kiss had felt as a small reward, soothing his anger for a short moment while he offered the French boy a bright smile. That was the problem, that all in all, Martín was too much of a loyal friend, that his were fought with fists and jinxes alike, and that he did not like having to be distracted by the well being of those he cared about. And, for a moment, he had to remind himself that that was just a class and just a game, aquamarine gaze falling onto whatever chaos was going on that crazy red-haired girl that had taken a freaking bow to Home Ec. class. That was when he saw Severin slap her right across that arguably pretty face. Good. Athelstan had almost hurt him with that bow back then - not to mention that he had killed the lion’s precious watermelon float- she deserved just as much, and surely the Swede could handle that situation by himself.

So, he turned around, gaze falling onto the Fire Team as elegant fingers wrapped tightly around the handle of his wand. There was a battle to win, and no time to waste. That was when he saw Fae, or as the lion preferred to call her for the sake of puns alone Bae. Not the target he would have chosen, but it would have to do. "Glacius"

[i]Stells is finally catching up with class posts, don’t mind me. Mars thinks being stuck in a recreated battle is much better when he doesn’t have to worry about his friends. He smiles about @Florentin Deschamps’ cheek kiss and is very glad to see Sev slap Aisley for very personal reasons and what not. And he decides to try freeze @Fae Forsythe because Stells can't read xoxo
